The California Breast Cancer Research Program (CBCRP) wanted to create a bold campaign to discover innovative breast cancer prevention research ideas. Breast cancer prevention research is underfunded and critically needed to tackle this tenacious disease that takes the lives of nearly 50,000 women in the U.S. each year. CBCRP hired Kienholz Communications to design a competitive challenge to surface research ideas, help execute the program, and manage all communications. The Global Challenge to Prevent Breast Cancer yielded dozens of new research ideas and culminated with a standing-room-only, livestreamed event at which finalists presented their concepts. The ideas from the challenge will inform more than $15 million in funding that CBCRP will devote to breast cancer prevention research.
Scope of work: strategy, market research, challenge design, website, digital content, social media, earned media, partnership development, management of communications agency, and design and execution of final event.
